You decide to go back in time and research the information yourself.
You set the dial on the time machine for several thousand years in the
past and wait as it transports you to a long-forgotten era.
When the machine finally stops, you look around
at your new surroundings. You’re in what appears to be a large
cave, lit by torchlight. A man wearing a robe walks past you.
“Excuse me,” you say to him, “could
you tell me where I am?”
He turns to face you and says, “You are
in the Public Library for Demon Summoning Tomes.”
Well, how fortunate is that?
It turns out that your home was built on the very same location where
all the demon summoning knowledge of the past was stored. The phrase
deus ex machina pops into your head, but you can’t seem
to recall the meaning of it.
“Could you direct me to the tomes on summoning
an undefeatable demon army?” you ask the robed librarian.
“Certainly,” he replies. “Follow
me.”
A few minutes later, you have all the books that
you require, and you walk back to your time machine. As you start the
machine up for your return to the present, it makes a foreboding sound,
like sparks and tearing metal. You can only hope that it doesn’t
affect the trip home.
Return
to the present.
